We used to play Red Rover during recess. Kids would form two lines facing each other and link arms. Each line would take turns sending a kid charging into the opposing line to mercilessly bust through the arms of the kids they considered the weakest link. If they busted through they could grab a kid of their choice to join their line. If they failed, they would have to join ours.
I was almost always considered the weakest link. However underestimated, I would take my bruises, refusing to let them through. I usually linked arms with Christine, a classmate who like me, would not bend or brake to the labels, or the kids, they threw at us.
